وفاقی وزیر اطلاعات و نشریات فواد چودھری نے کہا ہے کہ وزیراعظم عمران خان نے پلوامہ واقعہ کے بعدکی صورتحال پر قوم کو اعتماد میں لینے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے ،وزیراعظم آج دن ایک بجے پلوامہ واقعہ سے متعلق سرکاری ٹی وی پر خطاب کریں گے۔وزیراعظم عمران خان مقبوضہ کشمیرمیں بھارتی مظالم کی مذمت کریں گے اور بھارتی الزام تراشیوں کا جواب دیں گے ،وزیراعظم عمران خان بھارتی پروپیگنڈے کو مسترد کریں گے ۔
واضح رہے کہ پلوامہ واقعہ کے بعد بھارت کی جانب سے مسلسل پاکستان پر الزام تراشی اور دھمکیاں دی جا رہی ہےتاہم وزارت خارجہ بھارتی پروپیگنڈے اور الزامات کو مسترد کرچکی ہے،وزارت خارجہ نے کہا ہے کہ بھارت کے پاس واقعہ میں پاکستان کے ملوث ہونے کے ثبوت ہیں تو پیش کئے جائیں۔تاہم بھارت کی جانب سے ابھی تک کوئی شواہد پیش نہیں کئے گئے۔

  • Washington says a Russian medium-range missile system breaches the INF dealPresident Vladimir Putin on Saturday said Russia was suspending its participation in a key Cold War-era missile treaty in a mirror response to a US move the day before, agencies reported.
    “Our American partners have announced they are suspending their participation in the deal, and we are also suspending our participation,” he said of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.
    Putin said during a meeting with foreign and defence ministers Sergei Lavrov and Sergei Shoigu that Russia would no longer initiate talks with the US on disarmament.
    “We will wait until our partners have matured enough to conduct an equal, meaningful dialogue with us on this important topic,” the president said.
    President Donald Trump said Friday that Washington was suspending its obligations under the INF treaty and starting a process to withdraw in six months.

Tremors felt in major Pakistani cities


Tremors felt in major Pakistani citiesTwo separate earthquakes felt in several cities of Pakistan on Saturday, sparking panic among the residents.

At 5:06pm, tremors were felt in northern Pakistan on Saturday in cities including Lower Dir, Kohat, Mianwali, DI Khan, Sargodha, Islamabad and its surrounding areas. The quake was also felt in Upper Dir, Nowshera, Swat and surrounding areas.
The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 5.8 on the Richter scare, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), and its epicentre was the Hindukush Mountains in Afghanistan at a depth of 200 kms.
Earlier, a 2.9-strong earthquake tremors were felt in Karachi. The epicentre was 15 kilometres north of the Sindh capital city.
The tremors were felt in Landhi, Korangi and surrounding areas.

  • COAS Qamar Bajwa was in the Newlands to watch the fifth and final ODI of the series between Pakistan and South AfricaPakistan’s army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid a surprise visit to the Pakistan cricket team’s dressing room while on a private tour to South Africa this week.
    The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) was in the Newlands to watch the fifth and final ODI of the series between South Africa and Pakistan. Team manager Talat Ali invited COAS Bajwa to the team’s dressing room so that the players could be encouraged.
    The top military commander, who is an avid fan of cricket, demonstrated his knowledge of the game during interaction with players and team management.
    During his interaction with the players and officials of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Bajwa was all praise for Sultan Rana, the uncle of cricket team’s assistant manager Mansoor Rana. He also mentioned Mansoor’s late father and renowned umpire Shakoor Rana.
    The players were even more pleasantly taken aback when they found out the general knew quite a lot about cricket and past cricketers.
    According to the team manager, General Bajwa informed the Pakistan team that he used to play cricket as well.
    The five-match ODI series between Pakistan and South Africa ended with the hosts winning it 3-2.
    Today, world No. 1 Pakistan would be looking to end an otherwise disappointing tour of South Africa on a successful note by winning the three-match Twenty20 International series in Cape Town.

World Wetland Day to be celebrated with theme “Wetland and Climate Change” on SaturdayThe World Wetland Day would be celebrated on Saturday, with the theme “ Wetland and Climate Change ” Due to human activities, the global climate is changing faster than any previous century.

The day, celebrated every year on February 2, marks the date of adoption of Ramsar Convention on February 2, 1971, in Ramsar, Iran.
Pakistan is a signatory to the Convention on Wetlands also known as Ramsar Convention.
It is an intergovernmental treaty which provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetland and their resources.
Under Ramsar Convention, Pakistan has so far designated 19 wetlands as Ramsar Sites of International significance., said a message received from Ministry of Climate Change.
Wetland includes lakes, rivers, deltas, estuaries, swamps, peatlands, coral reefs mangroves, and other coastal areas. These are among the most diverse and productive ecosystem supporting rich biodiversity and providing valuable products and services to human beings.
As a result, the temperature is rising, oceans are warming, glaciers are melting and sea levels are rising. The frequency of disasters worldwide has more than doubled in just 35 years and 90 percent of these disasters are water related. Extreme weather events are predicted to be on the rise.
Due to its geographical location and her terrain, Pakistan is among the top ten countries affected by climate change. To mitigate the impacts of climate change we should conserve and restore our wetlands.
The Ministry of Climate Change is Working to harmonise the potential of floods for groundwater recharge, pollution control, and poverty alleviation.
In this connection, a Recharge Pakistan Project is being considered for implementation. Besides, plantation and regeneration of forest cover in mangroves zones and other appropriate areas near wetlands are planned. Through these efforts, Pakistan reiterates its commitment to the international community and the Ramsar Convention.

US suspends Cold War Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty with Russia

  • The INF treaty bans both nations from stationing short- and intermediate-range land-based missiles in Europe.– The United States (US) is suspending its participation in the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty on Saturday.
    The United States said that Russia has long been in breach of this agreement and if it does not return to compliance within six months, the US will abandon the treaty altogether, Radio Pakistan reported.
    The agreement bans both nations from stationing short- and intermediate-range land-based missiles with ranges of between 500 and 5,500 kilometres in Europe.
    Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the United States would cease to regard itself as being bound by the treaty starting Saturday, which is when Washington will formally inform Moscow of its intent to withdraw.
    “If Russia does not return to full and verifiable compliance with the treaty within this six-month period by verifiably destroying its INF-violating missiles, their launchers, and associated equipment, the treaty will terminate,” Pompeo added.
    The announcement also raised fears of a new US-Russian nuclear arms race in Europe as well as one between the United States and China in AsiaUS President Donald Trump repeated US allegations levelled against Russia by saying that Moscow had violated the INF treaty, which limited only US and Russian arsenals.
    Russia, however, insists that it is abiding by the agreement.
    That treaty, which also limits deployed land- and submarine-based missiles and nuclear-capable bombers, expires in February 2021, can be extended by five years if both sides agree.
